When you do an asana you both stretch and strengthen muscles, you expand, you open and make space for all (even internal organs) that is compressed, tightened due to sitting or standing.
Your body, mind (thoughts) and emotions are part of one integrated system, when you influence either one of them it will have an effect on all. We will activate the body, quiet the mind to give a possibility to loosen physical and emotional tensions, self heal, recharge, rejuvenate.

Restorative yoga is gentle and therapeutic. It helps to de-stress, restore your energies, rest, heal, rejuvenate and recharge.
This yoga style is known to activate the parasympathetic nervous system (slows your heart and breath rates, lowers blood pressure and promotes digestion). The parasympathetic nervous system is a network of nerves that relaxes your body after periods of stress, anxiety, fear and danger. Our body enters a state of relaxation, and this will bring recovery. The more we are in this state the healthier we are.
