Meditation is taking a mini holiday during your day, you only need 15-20 minutes to feel recharged. To prepare your mind to reach the meditative state we will work with the body first. Following a guided meditation with an already relaxed body and calm mind is really easy!
When we meditate, we move from the stressful, always busy, always need to do something , almost "emergency mode" daily function to a much calmer state. The parasympathetic nervous system gets activated, whose task is to calm, regenerate, rejuvenate, self heal the body. When we meditate we enter a state of rest in which the body's self-healing process starts.
Yoga nidra is a structured guided meditation (you are lying down is savasana) and the goal is to move into a deep state of conscious awareness, “sleep like” state. This state is deeply healing, your body and mind rest but the consciousness is awake. When practicing yoga nidra, the pineal gland is activated and that releases melatonin hormone. Melatonin is a powerful antioxidant. It can also help manage immune function, blood pressure, cortisol levels and induce restful sleep.
