In traditional Chinese medicine spring is associated with the liver and gallbladder meridian and the element of wood.
The season's message “Acceptance” and “Go with the flow”
Meaning: stop burying your emotions, let them flow freely, make amends, don’t hold grudges, let go of the idea of perfection and let go of expectations.
Spring is nature’s actual new year; it is when everything starts to come to life again. If you have spent your time in winter resting and recovering, you naturally feel like going back to the world with enthusiasm and lots of energy. If you have pushed yourself too hard through winter, you might feel burnt out.
In spring the growing amount of sunlight supports us to move for longer periods. Any activity outdoors is great, walking, cycling, jogging, etc.
According to the Chinese medicine spring is the season when our liver needs some extra care. When the energy is running smoothly though the liver, emotions run smoothly too. Give your liver a boost by drinking a lot of water, cut back on caffein and processed food, eliminate as many toxins (food, drinks, people, thoughts) as you can.
